Associate Pastor of Youth (Next Generation) Ministry

SPBC is seeking a Full-time Associate Pastor to be part of our leadership team. This is
a full-time position (40 hours per week) and salary is commensurable with experience.
The main focus of this role will be leadership of youth and student ministries, while
fulfilling associate pastor duties supporting the Senior Pastor.

Below, you will find a list of responsibilities and qualifications that give very broad
parameters for who we are seeking. Broad for two reasons: we are looking to add a
pastor who can uniquely add their God-given gifts, abilities, and skills to our leadership
team, but also compliment our Senior Pastor.

We are trusting that through this search process, God will bring us a pastor who
qualifies not solely due to competency, character, and gifting, but who also fits with our
church culture and has chemistry with our leadership team. That’s why we emphasize
the importance of calling and fit over titles. The heart of the position is to serve our next
generation and support the broader pastoral team in a way that aligns with the mission
of our church: “To make disciples who become mature and productive Christians.”

Key Responsibilities
1. Personal Discipleship
– Pursue intimacy with God through daily prayer and Bible reading.
– Live a godly lifestyle in accordance with Scripture, relying on God’s grace.
– Remain open to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

– Develop and oversee a biblically-based youth program including weekly gatherings,
discipleship groups, retreats, and service projects.
– Build strong relationships with students and families, offering pastoral care and support.
– Recruit, train, and equip volunteer leaders.
– Lead youth outreach and evangelism efforts.
– Maintain regular communication with youth, parents, and the church.
– Manage budgets and resources for youth and young adult ministries.

3. Associate Pastoral Duties
– Preach regularly (approximately once per month) and assist with other teaching
opportunities such as Bible studies, prayer groups, and small groups.
– Provide biblical training and support to youth and young adult leaders.
– Assist the Senior Pastor with general pastoral duties, including pastoral care and
church-wide initiatives.
– Participate in leadership planning, vision-setting, and ministry strategy.
– Help coordinate church services, special events, and outreach efforts.

4. Other ministry opportunities (based on gifting)
– Developing and implementing a young adult ministry.
– Leadership, discipleship and service in our worship ministry.
– Growth group (Small Group) leadership mentoring and development.

Qualifications
The Pastor we seek should demonstrate Christian character and servant leadership as
stated in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4. They should be committed to
personal spiritual growth, be creative, teachable, willing to follow, and able to lead.

Spiritual & Personal Qualities
– A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a strong commitment to Scripture.
